i was just looking through the memberlist and i was extremely alarmed to discover that 403 of the 1033 members of this forum are yet to post, and around 691 have under 10 posts in their resume. it makes me wonder how many members on the list are actually active still...

i was wondering if you guys (especially admin), thought that it might be a good idea to put a time frame on the validity of a username. for example, if a username hasnt been accesed in over 6 months it is deleted, or something like that... lets hear everyone elses thoughts...

I agree Although not everyone feels the need to contribute, I think some may use it as a reference point, there is alot of info to be gleaned here.

A lot who don't wish to contribute join up so that it is easy for them to identify the new posts from the old. This is difficult if you're not a member as there is no icon to help differentiate between the two (no spinning b'head for you ;)).

I know a lot of members who don't post much anymore but still drop by regularly.

Why should we delete someone's membership just because they're not posting?

I doubt you'd like the government to revoke your driver's lisence if you'd not driven in 6 months (for some reason) ;)

Food for thought I guess.

yer... i agree that there are alot of those people who come on to the site to get info, but if they come on the site, they have to activate the account to see where the new posts are... i would jus be interested to know how many of the 1000 odd accounts are still being accessed on a regular basis... is there any way to find out when a users last log on was luke???

It's not possible with this software Bob.

PHP forum software is free and helps keep our running costs down while the software that Marcus uses on AF has an annual charge attached.

For most bowhunters, this software does the job we need it to just fine ;) Not too complex but enough bells n whistles to make it customizable enough to look good and function pretty well too. :D

A good suggestion though mate and something we'll look hard at (I'll raise it at the Management Team Conference Hunt)
