This is what the sites about for me, getting people motivated. Thanks to Kimal, jindy, alex just to name a few of late. You blokes have posted stuff on the subject in question which got me keen to have ago, and I really enjoyed it.

My first attemp in knife making, a absolute slap up job made from anything I could find in the work yard(Were I live while away at work).

Old cold cut steel blade, A fallen gum tree branch(found it in the yard) and some 2.15mm fencing wire for pins).

Just needs a polish up and the handle needs some clear coating.

Learnt a bit from this one knife though.

Production time (1.5 hours)
tools used, 4 inch grinder, 1mm cutting blade, sanding blade, grinding blade, drill and 2 hands.

I like the eucalypt handle. Does it hold an edge well?

Thanks all, tryed cleaning the blade up abit, but being on a remote work site makes it hard to get the right stuff for the job.

Glenn, yes used fencing wire for the pins

When I get home in a few weeks from work Ill put an edge on it, and try buffing the blade to a gloss finish.

I'm going to be critical but meant in a good way. Firstly I do like the knife, so that's that. I think that the scales (handle) needs a little more thought, as from the picture, it seems to have the profile of a broom handle. It won't fit the contours of your hand very well left that way. I would suggest as a final wood finish a product called Cabots Danish Oil. Rub it into the wood with some fine wet and dry paper and give it several coats for a nice hand polished finish. Just my thoughts though.
