Basic Glossary
ATA: Axle to axle (the length of a compound bow)
Broadhead: Hunting blade, found on the front of an arrow.
Compound: Modern bow with 1 or 2 cams (also ‘pounder, wheely bow, training wheels)
Release Aid: Mechanical device for releasing a bowstring cleanly.
Nock: An attachment that holds the arrow in place on the bow string. As a verb, to place the arrow on the string.
Fletching :The feathers that help stabilize the arrow during flight. (also “vanes”)
Recurve : A bow whose tips curve away from the archer.
