Is a plasma (spelling) cutter an option for cutting the blank of a knife from saw blades ?
Thinking it would be a lot more efficient to mark a heap of designs on a saw blade and have a metal fab business cut them out for you, you'd waste less steel, use less cutting and grinding discs and decrease your risk of self mutilation.
Couldn't see that the heat would be any more excessive than cutting, but would it mess with the structure of the steel ?

Cheers

The heat isn't a problem unless you are cutting your blanks from an air hardening steel like D2 or one of the stainless steels, then you would have to cut your blanks oversize so you can grind off the hardened edges before you got to working it. The cost is a big reason why people don't do it, and you wouldn't bother spending money to save saw blade steel you got for free in the first place.
The offcuts from your knife blanks have uses too :D
