View Full Version : Blackstump Broadheads
Just wanted to give the traditional bowhunters the heads up on some quality heads. BlackStump broadheads have been around for years but I have never seen them this good, Brett and Monica Simpson are certainly doing a top job.
Anyways bounced them off rocks, and put them through shoulder blades unscarved and in shape. Actaully after a pass through(shoulder blades) the Black Stump Iron Bark was still killa sharp.
Excellent Heads, Spin true, fly deadly, and easy to get razor sharp.
Who else is using these heads.
A few pictures I like and thought I'd share. The Arrows are Manuel Agius brand(cresting).

Good looking heads thats for sure
I used some on my trip to NZ in Jan. Only have two left as I gave the rest to Nortcom to trade for his collection.
They area a strong head and easy to sharpen, hold a good edge IMO.
I had placed a last minute order the week of Christmas and told Monica of my early Jan trip to NZ. Although she said she couldn't promise I'd have them in time, they arrived 10days later and a week before I left.
Great service and great product to.
I shot a small kid (goat peoples) but it moved as the shot was released and the Bstump smashed through the hips (quickly followed up with a double lung shot) and was sticking out the other side. BH was still razor sharp and in perfect shape.
Will be getting some more for my next lot of woods.

I have been using Blackstumps for a long time, my son started out using the ironbark version on small carbontech's. Good boardhead, reliable, strong and once you how they are easy to sharpen.

My mate had a dozen of these broadheads but they came butter knife blunt without an edge. Just curious as to how u sharpened yours for the first time adam? And also did urs come without an edge brand new?? Otherwise, these broadheads look bloody deadly and tuff as nails. ;)
but they came butter knife blunt without an edge.
Yep you need to sharpen them straight up ofcourse, I use a razors edge to get them to the edge and angle I want, but a file would also do the job.
Takes about 2 minutes from new blunt head to razorsharp killa per head on the razors edge. Ill try do a video or pictures of it later if get the chance.

cheers adam,
that would be a heap of help.
I have been using them now for a while. I know Brett and he is a top bloke who is an absolute perfectionist.
Since he has 're-designed' the three models they fit flush to the back of the ferrule with most adapters (both alloy and steel) and are SO strong!
All heads are truely within 2 grains of the prescribed weight, and spin up great.
My favorite 2 blade broadhead!:)
I've never used Blackstumps before, they've always been more expensive then the Ribteks and Tuskers which have always worked well for me.
They do look really strong, I like the double thickness at the tip,
I'll have to try some.:D

have used them heaps on boars and taken two red stags with them..as adam as mentioned use a razoredge sharpner, which is justa bog file,or grab urself a couple files..i believe they come with instructions to sharpen and also info on their website..
i use a arrow spinner to insure they are true, and have no trouble sending them out to forty metres and basically touching each
they are one of the two best aussie heads made,blackstumps/woodys
if u just take the time to sharpen them ull have no probs...
good to deal with as well

Just had a quick look at there website and they don't seem to have any spec's on weights etc...or have I missed it in there somewhere????
Black Stump broadheads are available in 3 models - the 110 grain Ironbark; the 120 grain Bushmaster "vented" and the 130 grain Bushmaster "solid". The Ironbarks will be back on the market soon: we are currently working hard to clear backorders.

I love the things ive shot all my game with them solid as a brick #$%*house.
Just to let everyone know that the broadhead weights have all gone up a few grains in the process of further strengthening (the already toughest of tough heads) and also lengthening the ferrul back a bit.
With their respective alloy adapters they come out to 140,150 and 160 grains:)
