I had some scraps laying around after the last kitchen knife so through them together to make a little knife for my daughter. It is pretty rough and the steel is a saw blade but nothing special but it will be a good one as a first knife to learn how to look after it before she gets a real nice one.
Cheers KIM

Puk, would you be asking this question, if it was his son?

Common sense is not strictly a male gender quality, i'm sure. :-)

I hope she enjoys using it Kimall, I like the way you've done the contrasting handle by the way.

Absolutely i would ask him if it was his son. I know Kim and he is a fairly fit young bloke, leading me to assume that any kids he had would be reasonably young too. I actually thought he had said he made the knife for his "little daughter", which was what bought about the question, but when i read back, i see that he actually said "little knife, for my daughter." Oops. Where's that embarrassed emoticon?

Ok so this does not get out of hand:) she is 9 and she wont get free rain with it just yet but it WILL be sharp and she will get to use it to cut stuff.I believe in giving the kids good tools and training on how to use them as I was taught when young.I still cut myself from time to time when doing something stupid but they heal and the lesson is learned. Thanks for the compliment too Puk (Young and Fit) been a while since I felt like that.I also have one made for the boy but he can wait a bit longer as he has a bit of growing to do yet.
The kids just love having stuff made for them by me and they LOVE telling everyone who will listen about the bow or knife or quiver that I have made them and its nice to have kids that are proud of their old man and his strange tinkering in the shed.Maggie told someone the other day she had the best Dad in the WHOLE world and if I manage to keep that up for a few years more I am happy I have done my bit.
