i wanted to go the national parks and wildlife for work experiece but i could not get in. you can become one without qualifications. however chances are greatly incresed if you complete a degree at uni like botany, environmental science, geo, natural resouce management. to get into these courses you of cause have to complete year 12. prerequisit subjects and assumed knowledge are, bio, chem, eng, math ans physics. traineeships are also avaliable.
any other info wanted just ask
Contact the National Parks by phone or surf their web site and find out what education level you must obtain. There should be plenty of information on what duties they carry out. An acquaintance of mine works for the Parks and loves it, being in the bush almost everyday. Good luck. Howie

ok kool i was thinking of leaving yr 10 and working until i get mylicence
but im now thinking of finishing school and then seeing if i can get in
Not wanting to sound like a parent but finishing school is almost always the best option. You may not think so now but things may be differant in 10 years time.

G'day,
From what I have heard to work for NPWS in N.S.W you must complete a uni degree in something to do with the environment to become a ranger. But to become a field officer with NPWS a degree is not needed. Don't focus on a job only with NPWS; there are other organisations too e.g State forests, fisheries, RLPB, game council, CMA, e.t.c. the field is difficult to get into but If you really want to become ranger don't let anyone or anything stop you, as people commonly say it is to hard to get into. But experience like volenteer work in the field does help!
ALL THE BEST and GOOD LUCK!!!

ive been looking pretty heavily in getting into the RLPB and what it sort of takes... from what ive heard the first few years are not what u would expect... like, they dont throw you in at the deep end culling deer and such, but its something i'd love to get into... ive heard of pretty reliable sources that its alot quicker and easier to get in with like a natural resource management degree from uni, but there is a way through tafe i think... dont quote me on it

does anyone no what the pay is like, do you get a work car etc
In Vic there is a course you can do at TAFE which starts you down the path to being a ranger. Im not sure of any about it but if you want I can ask my sister who did it a few years back. PM me and let me know if you are interested.
