Here is an experimental design I came up with, the idea is that you can cut fore handed & backhanded, eg around legs, without changing grips. As well as being able to use the knife comfortably in a forwards or reversed grip.

Still haven't come up with a handle for it, was thinking a few strips of brass. Any ideas?

Hey Mayall,

Cheers mate.

Don't happen to know if there is a name for this type of blade?
I'm sure I am not the first one to use it, but haven't seen it before.

Hi Mate
I have not see a design like that before either. Its nearly like a wide dagger .It looks like it will do the job .:D Each knife has its design perpuse . that is the man thing and does the job :P

Hi Sag,

I have not seen anything much like that either, you could be onto a winner. For a handle I would think something slim would suit best, so for impact I would think a highly figured piece of burl might be the go, but you are the one that has to look at it the most eh! Besides I like'm fancy anyway.

Cheers Noel

the handle desgin looks like a modified warncliff too me as for the handle i would go with Micarta as it does not seem to get slippery with oil or grease

What is Micarta anyway?

Micarta was developed by Westinghouse. It has a higher tensile strength than steel and is impervious to changes in temperature. It will not swell, warp, or crack, even under adverse conditions, once it is on the knife. There are three types of Micarta and several grades of these three types. They all consist of layers of either paper, linen, or canvas.

Hey thanks fellas.

It does work very well & in the way intended. So its a winner to me. ;)

Just had a look at Wharncliffe handles & blades, I can definitely see similarities in both.

LOL, Maybe we could call it a Sagcliffe?

;p
