On the way home from our most recent hunt Johnno and I were discussing the need for an instructional DVD on hunting not the usual stalk animal, shoot animal and then pose with animal type of DVD. Some of the "how to" topics we came up with were bow setup, shooting form, broadhead sharpening, anatomy, shot placement and answers to often asked questions. Has this sort of thing been done before?

What would you like to see in a instructional DVD? I think with the amount of knowledge on this forum that a really good quality instructional DVD could be produced. Your thoughts.:D

i think thats a bloody great idea rinaldo.

i'd like to see all of the things you mentioned plus stalking methods, how to spot an animal, how to be patient waiting for the right shot, how to know when the animal is tense and alert, how to judge distances in the bush, and show many types of animal sign.

mate i agree sounds like a good idea, id like to see all the "what to do after the shot" such as fisishing it off field drerssing gutting skinning but not just on big game but also rabbits and foxes and stuff like that...not to mention lots of hunting clips...

i reckon something like that would be awesome... things like stalking tactics and utilising the situations your in would be good also i reckon though... i dont think ive seen anything that shows anatomy and that sort of thing...

Been discussing doing exactly that on a DVD due out next year, won't go into to much detail but we should be able post a trailer early Jan 2008.

would be a good watch to some one who hasnt done much of these
i grabed a copy from black stump here in perth i think for only $25

PSE have a video on shot placement that i will gladely send a copy to anyone. it is a bit long but they actually disect a goat and show where the kill zone etc is. there is a hell of a lot of american videos on bow set ups so it has been done to death . would never hurt to have an all australian one but would be hard to include all our game animals as most are different. Be a good venture but a tough one as you will be well aware everyone has an opinion on how to sharpen broadheads and even which head to use. But a good basic video would be only do a good thing for bowhunting in australia.

I'd like to see how to's regarding stalking, tracking, identifying game via spore and stuff (tracking I guess), shot placement, skinning and game care (like checking the organs for disease etc) camp setup, pack setup, calling in game, and lots of hunts.

maybe put some field repairs/maintenace in there as well, just incase something goes down and you're not around a shop or your shed. just things like reserving your peep, sharpening broadheads, maybe making a carbon arrow heavier for buff or resighting in the field for a heavier broadhead.

make it a three dvd series so you can chuck a ton of stuff in there.

great idea too Rinaldo

As before, great idea-shot placement would be one i'd like to see included. A basic anatomy of top game in AUST. Shot placement no1 for me. I would definately buy it for the rest tho!!

I reckon your onto a great idea there, and there is definately a great need for a good Aussie DVD on topics discussed.
Personally I would like to see some instruction on basic game meat preparation and care of meat harvested for human consumption, from the field to the table. Showing a bit about disease detection and what parasites to look out for would be great too. If an Aussie DVD was available now that covered these topics I'd buy one immediately.
There seems to already be enough material mentioned for a whole series of DVD's. - LOL !!
Good luck with your project/idea, I wish you success.
