i know i keep going on about me not getting any thing and i know im anoying, but its really getting to me now, i cant really voice my appiniones on much as i havnt any experience in hunting, as you great hunters know exactly what to say and all i can say is good work mate, and thats about it, so i feel a bit left out from the rest of you great hunters, just hit the 6 month mark without anything to my name.

thats the problem mate we havnt got any propertys, its because of those stupid hooligens with there rifles that go on the property without asking, so the owner dosnt trust us enough its so god damn FUSTRATING!.
All "great" hunters have to start somewhere mate. You've got plenty of years up your sleeve yet, so just keep at it and your time will come. Maybe if you asked the property owners if they needed a hand with anything, fixing fences, feeding stock etc. then when the trust builds ask if you would be able to take your bow for a walk. Just a suggestion:)

its called hunting the hard way for a reason,if we were all intent on just getting some game we would all have guns mate!if you love being out doors with your bow then thats what your doing every time you go hunting you will get something just dont put a time limit on it ,every time you go out and make a mistake (move to quick ,get the wind wrong, rush a shot )which leads to nothing ,this is when your learning ,so youll remember these mistakes the next time your out this is how you become a hunter not by downing game that will follow!think yourself lucky mate hunting with a bow here is illegal and theres so many people not minding there own business so i cant even go and enjoy the woods bow in hand and when i come to australia in janurary so i can hunt with my bow i have to leave my family and friends to do so!so just enjoy being out there with your bow and youll soon get something buddy .
good luck .

We all know how you feel but be assured that all of us here don't look down or don't consider you a bowhunter just because you haven't harvested an animal yet. Just the fact that you love getting out there looking for game makes you a bowhunter.
I agree it is difficult and frustrating finding properties to hunt on, but in the meantime, practice heaps so that when you do get the chance, you won't make a mistake. (Excellent advice from Rob H.)
What's your maximum effective range? (By that I mean the distance can you consistently hit a 6 inch target from) Work on that and on other things like making sure your equipment is in top condition, broadheads sharp, etc.
Never give up mate, never, ever, ever.

mate what these guys have said is spot on it. practise + good property = sucess, both very inportant when it comes to bowhunting. stick with it... and good luck...
We have all been there mate, even us so called great hunter had to start somewhere and most of us had the big wait before grassing anything or gaining property to hunt on.
thats why first harvests are so grand.
Adam
Keep aking around, eventually someone will give you a go. I know the frustration in trying to gain property access, it took me a few years to get my 'own' properties and not rely on when the mates are going and hope I can go too. It took about 2 years of hunting say once every 2/3 months before I made my first kill and yeah it's as frustrating as hell, but once I did it was the best thing in the world [IMO ranks up there with marriage and having kids], so be patient and persistent and think positive good things will happen.

thanks for all the support fella's, me and me dad have worked so hard, lol it was funyy when my dad first hit a rabbit, and we were pumped, but unfortunatly it got away seom how, he was really upset, we found the arrow 3 weeks later with just the rabbit skin around it, he wasnt very happy, we dont have heaps if money so we cant afford great quality stuff, my dad tries so hard to get the propertys and to hunt as long as he can, but with 4 diferent types of arthrytis (spelling) it makes it hard, and with only $400 a week is just enough for the bar esentuals to live. the amount of pain he is in after hunting really puts me down too, as i think its my fault that i make him do it, so its not all good here, its increasingly hard, i thanks all of you again for your time and support.
cheers a heap fella's.

should be spending months of hard practise getting confident with your bow before you're even in a position to be setting forth to shaft animals IMHO spidey.
so if you've done that practise your hunting career has only just started... 'now'.
however, going by last post you still have a lot to sort out before you should even be attempting a kill at this stage.

Not to mention illegal. And stupid. I assume you were joking, but let's not see any more jokes of that nature. We do not promote or condone illegal activities on this website.
OK?

You must keep practicing and asking owners for properties. Never give up, you will get something eventually!! Just put everything you can in to it! :)
Be patient it will come, good luck!
All the best will.
From my experience bow hunters have the upper hand over firearm hunters when it comes to access but it’s still hard however you hunt. Just keep asking the question and sooner or later you will get the answer you’re looking for.
Be straight with property owners, no B.S. When you finally get access let then know your appreciation, I have found a slab and maybe a nice red for the wife each trip is a small price to pay. Quite often access to one property will lead to access to others if you do the right thing by the land owner.
Recently a mate gained access to a property for us both simply by door knocking, he had plenty of "no sorry" but he also got quite a few "no but you should go and see so and so", this eventually led to us having access to 1000nds of acres of prime hunting property.
Chin up mate.
If you really want it then, then you will get it.
