Although there is no monster Billy to finish this with I thought I would add something from the weekend (mainly pictures). Gives you guys that aren’t getting much hunting in something to see. Also goes to show the younger guys that people do practice what they preach about "let them go, let them Grow" I found two bachelor mobs without turning up anything over about 105 pts. Also these other smaller Billies were spread out amongst the mobs of nannies and young goats. I probably looked over 200 goats in a 10 hr walk on Sat and three hrs on Sunday.
The highlights were two games of hide and seek with the Billy mobs as I judged them for shoot ability. One mob crashed away into the Woody weed (Thick native invasive scrub) in front of the car. Once upon a time I would have rushed after them at a dead run. I have learnt this isn't effective as often you will see them again only to spur them onto greater flight. Then I probably had a phase where I would have driven on and assumed the game was up. Experience now has me taking up the challenge of following quickly departing goats but not too quickly as they often do not go as far as their initial run suggests. (My hint for today, though I am no expert)
To sum up, didn't find or get a monster. Enjoyed getting out of town and 'doing it' rather than being on this bloody computer and wishing I was, (sound familiar). Got a nice goat for meat just near the car on dark which was to plan to avoid the heat and flies.
Some photo's to illustrate the poking around to suss out these mobs. The best billies are way out the back of the first photo, i ended up playing with them at ten to 30 metres for an hr or so, ((105 pts ish) the blue biilly from my fighting billies picture from the photo competition was there again, 2 km from where last seen).
