I've read the Man eaters of Tasvo before and is a super read. The Corbett works are good as well. I think I was born in the wrong timeframe....

The thing I like about Sam Baker is that he saved his hide by shooting a charging bull buffalo with a dose of loose change (coins) after he discovered he'd run out of ball for his muzzle-loader. The buffalo was knocked out, allowing Sam to get out of there. Later, the buffalo must have regained consciousness, and walked away never to be found...but richer for the experience, a real "win-win" situation.
