A mate of mine picked up this recurve for me near Carins for $10 at a garage sale. He new I was into bows so he thought I might like it for myself or my son.

He says there was no string with it but it measures 65" from tip to tip, there is nothing written on it to say what type of bow or when it was made.

I will pick it up in a couple of weeks on my way to Cape York and I was wondering if any of you Trad type people could recommend what length strings I should take?

If you get him to run a tape along the bow taking in the contours and then subtract 4"..This will be a starting point and then you can twist the string or untwist the string to get the correct brace height...This is only a guide, others may have a more fool proof method...
