Advantage is when shooting with your hand open you dont drop the bow.
Disadvantage none...

You also dont strangle the bow by trying to hang onto it. This can cause you to spray arrows. I dont use one, but can see the benefits as it took me a while to stop 'strangling' the bow.

just makes it easyer to shoot with a relaxed bow hand and not let the bow jump out and onto the ground
Tried one years ago, didn't make any difference and I still dont use one. Like stabilisers, some use them and some dont.......Howie

i use one and would not stop using one. without it feels like the bow would be to easy to drop.

also mate when some people shoot (without sling) they have their hand relaxed and as soon as the release the trigger they grip the bow (so it dosent fall) and this moves the bow around alot when the arrow is coming out, i still havnt found a disadvantage yet...

I think that the wrist sling is great for that mental reminder that you won't drop your bow, allowing you to not choke it when you fire.
I use one and wouldn't go back.

The idea is that you do not 'grip' the bow with the bow hand, but push the bow away from you. Holding onto the bow causes you to apply torque to the riser as you shoot. The ideal 'grip' is with an open hand. Trouble is that the bow will leap forward away from your hand as you fire, so the tendency will be to grab hold of it as you shoot. The anticipation of having to catch the bow will also cause you to grab the grip during the shot. A sling prevents this as you do not need to grab the bow at all.
I had forgotten how important my sling is in my shot sequence, until i shot one of my old bows without a sling a few weeks back. I had got so used to not gripping the riser, that the bow actually jumped out of my hand and onto the ground as I fired it! On concrete too. Glad it was my crappy old bow.
