Casey is over the coast here working for a couple weeks and I went down to his place on the weekend to give him a hand out roo shooting for a couple nights. I brought my bow along because on the property we were going to be working on there has a lot of rabbits. We puled up right on evening near a big lot of warrens and could already see a few rabbits chasing each other around. We stalked in behind a big old rock fence line which gave us good cover to get within 40m of the rabbits. I managed to get 3 shots off at some young bunnies and all were pretty close but none connected. We stalked up on the last lot of warrens on the hill and Casey spotted a ginger cat sitting on top of the warren. I didn’t want the bloody thing to get away so I told Casey to shoot instead and after watching him shoot under it by about an inch I wish I had taken the shot myself. After the cat made its way back down a hole we walked down to collect my 3 arrows and we spotted a young rabbit feeding down the bottom of the hill. Casey said you might as well have a crack, use your fourth pin. I placed my 40m pin on the little rabbit and shot the arrow off hitting the rabbit through the back legs. He hobbled around for a bit and sat up again so I sent another arrow his way just nicking it through the front leg. Casey grabbed it finishing it off and congratulated me on my first kill with a bow. Now I’m really keen to head back to the flinders and have a crack at a billygoat.

well done getting your first kill, good to see you wearing the apropriate hunting clothing;)
dan.
Good on you T.L.
Bunnies can be hard to hunt, and to be accurate enough to hit one two shots in a row from 40 metres is fantastic. :eek:the first harvest of many, i'm sure.;)

Well done Tara, and good luck when you have a go at the goats, I'm sure we will see some more photos...Glenn...

well done there t.l keep up the good work...
......Cheers alex......
Great to see another female spill some claret! The goats had better say their prayers!! :P
Congratulations, I am sure that this will be the first of many. If you can hit a rabbit twice at 40 meters you can park an arrow in the vitals of a goat.
Go get em!
I guess this means that it is Macca's turn to carry the camera.
Cheers Tim

yeh thats it jindydiver, next time i will have some confidence in my shot and i will take it myself instead of letting him take it... He was pretty annoyed when he missed it... I think he is going to try get it with his bow sometime this week while he is still over here or keep it till next time.

Well done!!!!! lol i don't ever see women hunters so it's nice to know there out there. Congrats
This was tara's first hunt where she actually had a bow in her hand. She only missed the first three by bee's whisker and when she hit the little one just before dark i couldnt believe it. I was pissed off big time about missing the cat but her first harvest had me on a bigger high then her i recon! When she finds time to come down this way she'll nail a goat for sure!
Cheers for that Shirt too Adam its going to get put to some good use when she gets a spare weekend.
