I mentioned to a friend of mine today that I was thinking about going up around some local creeks to chase some pigs this weekend to scratch the hunting itch and for the young fella to try out the new bow.

He asked me if I was interested in hunting dear. I told him that if I knew where to look I would. I nearly fell over when he said there is about 10 - 12 of them walk down from the hills past his house all the time. Said he took one of them a few weeks back for a hungi.

All very interesting but what sort of dear. Perhaps some one here may be able to let me know what species are found around the Peachester area in SEQld. I asked for a bit more info about them and he just said, "I dunno, you know those ones with the big horns". Might have known asking a bloke form the NT what dear is what.

A trip is being planned for the next few weekends to maybe get some photos and make a plan of attack. Any hints for a first time dear hunter other than they look different to pigs?

The Deer are most likely Reds. But for a confirmed and guarantied naming, I will at my own expense travel to the area and harvest some deer and let you know what type it is at no cost to you
What do you say Bargain.

Ohh I thought you meant 'My Dear wife/husband' but what was really ment was the animal form, deer. Was going to say it's completely illegal to hunt humans and most frowned upon if they are a loved one, for example in the case of someone 'dear' to you.

Poppy, I must say that is an extremely generous offer and he should take it up.
Troy, very good buddy, this spelling thing is really taking off!!

Poppy, fantastic offer there. I would feel guilty if you had to fork out all that cash just to do that for me. I will try and get some photos to save you the effort/cash.

It is going to be awfully hard to concentrate at work tomorrow. We are going to go for a bit of a walk on Friday arvo and again Saturday morning to see what is about. Taking the camera and leaving the bow at home so I can plan this with a level head.
