hunt or be hunted

i woke up to an empty house only to be greeted by the dog's, i was home alone on my birthday but instead of feeling sad i was very happy because i could do whatever i wanted:D.
i started by having breakfast and checking up on TBGA, and then getting on my new mountaine bike and going up to our back paddock to start and build jump's. i got buggered from doing that so i went home had a rest and then got my bowhunting gear together. i had a couple of practice shot's and i was soon hitting a small white piece of paper that is less then half a tennis ball from 20m 30m and 40m. i was very happy with that so i headed out in search of the humble bunny. it wasn't long before i could see them running and feeding on the hill.
as i came to the firt place with bunny's i could see two kittens feeding on the side of a dried creek about 25m away, i drew back placed my pin on his head and released, missing by an inch or two. i picked up my arrow cleaned it and kept moving.
walking across the open flat at the bottom of the plateau movement cought my eye and i began to stalk towards an old warren, i could'nt see what was moving and it soon turned out to be two little bird's.
i walked up onto the hillside and stalked to the fence where a few bunny's came bolting past at spitting distance, i hopped the fence and walked towards a well used warren, nothing was there so i moved off.
further along i could see the white flashes of departing rabbit's and i told myself to slow down. once i was at a good pace i watched carefully for and bunny's that might stop running within range. it didnt look like any were going to stop but i kept a close eye on them, i walked through some stinging nettle waist high and i could feel the odd prick through my pants which made my legs itchy, after walking afew more metres i looked to my left at a running rabbit and it was then that i noticed the two big ears poking over the top of a rise, i crouched down and got out of sight behind the rise, i slowly closed the gap to where i couldnt get any closer, once at full draw i got to my feet hoping the bunny would feel safe enough for me to get off a shot, and it did i looked through my peep put my first pin on its chest and released, all i heard was a thud and then the rabbit rolled over a couple of times got to its feet and took off, i ran over to my arrow and could see the thick rich blood down the whole shaft and i knew it was a decent hit, i moved quickly through the stinging nettle hoping to recover the rabbit but i truely thought it had made it back to thick cover, after walking for a fair few metres i could see something rolling around under a tree so i quickly got over there and saw it was my rabbit, yes!!! i found it, and it ws in a pretty bad state so i finished it off, took some photos and moved on, nothing much was out further up so i turned around and started my walk home.

after getting back over the fence at the top of the plateau i put down my bunny and stalked to the edge in hope of seeing some kitten that i had seen on a previouse hunt, two were there but in bad shooting positions so i pasted up the shot, i walked down to the left and another kitten hoped into a good spot so i got down drew back and rose up, i was still there sitting plump in the sun so once again i put my top pin on it and shot, the rabbit rolled about 3 times and i thought i had my second bunny for the hunt but when i went over to where it ws there was nothing but my arrow that had passed through it's stomach and the bunny had made it down it's hole, damn:mad:.
i went home had a rest and then thought i might as well have a look at an old cutdown pine forest up the road from home, after filling up my drink bottle and putting my bag on my back i was on my way.
i turned off the road and checked out a big patch of coffee bush, i saw a couple of bunny's darting to and from the bushes but they were too quick so i had a go at fox whistling, after setting up behind some thick tussock type grass i bagan to whistle, after going at it for about 5 minutes and no action i gave up and thought i better get to the pine forest before it get's to late. i walked over the hill's on the way there hoping to find a good spot for another whistle but nothing looked promising anough so i didnt bother.
i finally reached the pine forest and started the bugger of a walk over the rock's and up steep creek be'd and then back down over stick's and log's. i saw a kitten run behind the blackberry bush infront of me and then stop on the edge of another bush to my left, i stood back drew and then looked around the bush again but it soon left the scene and i let down. i walked up a bank and stepped over an old dead gum tree branch, i came around the side of a pine tree covered in blackberry's and stick's, i looked ove rthe creek and spied a kitten sleeping outside of its warren, when i drew back it opened its eyes and put it's ear's up, i put my top pin on the front of it's body and released, my arrow flew true and smacked him right behind the eye and my arrow penetrated three quater's and it was all over. i picked up my bunny and took a couple of photos, put it in a plastic bag and plased it in my back pack.

it was getting late so i started the long walk home, after passing through blackberry's two rabbit's bolted from infront of me and one stoped on a bank so i drew and shot it moved forward a couple of inches and my arrow smashed into the rock's where the rabbit once was, on inpsection i found that my nock had come out and got lost so i pulled a nock from another arrow and placed it in this one. i walked one and spotted a nice sized rabbit standing up looking at me over the scrub so i got down nocked an arrow and stood back up, i took a couple of step's to the left, aimed and released, the arrow shot way left and smashed into another big rock and this time it was totaled for good:mad:.

i put it in my quiver and walked home. after getting back i put my rabbit's on the dog run and took a picture of both of them together.
