dear anarcher
i have hunted mostly throught the day before, for about 6mths now, it was just last week i came up with the idea to hunt at night, i didnt realise how many people are against the idea nor was i aware of the rules and regulations for deer the last thing i want to do is come across as some sort of pocher this is the first time ive spoke to other bowhunters around australia im pretty new to this whole thing
so im sorry if i offended you, im going to go gack to hunting daylight hours seeing thats what i should be doing.

Hey mate. Look I understand that new hunters can get it wrong particularly if they have not been exposed to how others do it. This is why this site is good as it is the best spot to ask questions and get your answers. You unfortunately went the wrong way around and gave answers before you asked questions.

I think the best thing for you to do is to make a post and say to people what you said to me. People will respect your honesty and then lead you in the right direction rather than lambast you like they have. I was a little upset as we have a lot of young guys starting out and the message you were conveying was way off and I would have hated for them to think that what you were doing was the norm.

No one can be upset with inexperience. I know some people who hung out with the wrong guys when they started and some of the things they did were worse than what you have done. Still once steered in the right direction they have become successful and respected hunters. Hopefully you will become one of these people. The worst kind are those who know better and still do the wrong thing. I have no time for these types, hypocrites.

Guys this a pm exchange I had with nighthunter. The first paragraph is his pm to me and the rest is my response.

I did not expect it to be put up for everyone to see, but at least you get the gist of what I said to him and he has had the honesty of publicly airing his mistake.

I would rather a see converted beginner, than a determined trouble maker in our sport that will not listen to others despite the strong public reaction. For this I give him credit. If you did not know you were in the wrong and then you right it when told, then that is good enough for me.

Well
Good on him for that. And if Antonio is happy with it being public, then that's okay. But for future reference folks: Don't publish any PM's on the public forums unless you have the prior permission of the other person with whom you are corresponding. The P stands for Private, and it is their right not to have it aired publicly.

(however, that doesn't mean that people can abuse the PM system with bad language, personal abuse etc) You can still be reported to Admin for abusing the system.

It is great to see that Night hunter has had the humility to see he has been mis/ uninformed and change what he has been doing when advised. If more people had the same sort of humility bowhunting would be a more cohesive community.

Great to see!;)

Hawkeye, Antonio IS Antarcher.
and as he explained above: In this case he didn't know it was going to, but he's alright with it.

I was just reminding everyone as to a matter of principle/ etiquette in general.

I'm rapt to see a young guy with the humility to take notice of others' concerns. One more ethical bowhunter = one less arrow in the quiver of the anti-hunting activists.
