Hey everybody, I was just wondering what the different methods other people use to remove the jaw from their trophy boars? I am looking for a easy, fast and cheap way of getting the jaw from them, remembering that I have to carry whtever tools are required. I have tried cutting the whole jaw out but find it to be quite a job. I have also tried the good old leatherman saw but it made my hand cramp something fierce. Anybody got a handy tip they use? :)

I have seen it done most efficiently with a chainsaw but they do get a bit heavy after a while in the backpack.;)
A little axe or tomahawk does the job nicely. Smaller too.
I just chop the jaw out at the hinge with a cut down machete that I carry. Then tidy it up once boiled out at camp/home.
I like them fold down pruning saws from bunnings to cut through the jaw or a heavy knife to smash through the jaw( tully detusker or similar)

If you can master the "whole jaw" cut out it only takes a few minutes at most, thats what I have used most, I also have used a folding gerber saw which does a nice job just behind the End Of Tusk Bone, but on bigger pig hunts I would start carrying a small axe.

PM tackleberry. I've seen him in action and has it down pat. Plenty of practise. Kniife and a small tomohawk.

Who sells Busse in Aust? Where can i get one?
Small timber handsaw, costs around $10 and will have jaw of in under a minute, will work well for about 20 jaws.
I use a small axe shaped out of a meat clever. Already has a handle, just get into it with your angle grinder and carve out a nice shape, nice and light and very effective. I have seen too many people bust the jaw in the wrong place! I always bust the jaw just below where it hinges in the skull.
