I am rather new to the wonderful world of trad hunting and would like to make myself my own longbow, could anyone point me in the direction of some good books that could get me started. It is something i have wanted to do for a while but diddnt know where to start.
Scott one of the best books to buy for the first time bowyer is
"The Bent Stick" by Paul Comstock. Really simple and straight foward. Then there are the Bowyers Bibles, there are three volumes in that set and some really advanced bow building instructions. Those books are mainly for all wood bows or primitive bows.
If you want to build a fibreglass laminated bow contact John Clark from Ausbow Industries in South Australia, he has some good books on the subject and you can purchase all of the materials and instructions you need to build a bow...Glenn...

the book building the osage selfbow or something rather is good. it is by dean torges. i tried to read it but lost interest but it was still informative
'Hunting the Osage Bow' by Dean Torges. Yes it is one of the best books ever written on making a selfbow. Dean has a good CD out on making a selfbow as well, the book and the Cd are well worth getting...Glenn...

Hi Scott, the Bowyers Bibles are available in Australia via Skills publish in Lawson Blue Mountains. I noticed their add in the latest Archery Action magazine. They are extremely informative, so to is the Dean Torges dvd if you prefer not to read. Steve
