Went out with darryl again but this time i took him out into the Bluebush to see if the goats were coming into water. We got out there a bit late as there were already about 50 goats on the dam bank and all we could do was watch them walk away. Darryl had spotted a mob of bedded billies out on the flat so we gave them a stalk. We were both using recurves this trip to add an extra bit of difficulty to the hunt. I sat back and watched as he crawled about 200m on his hands and knee's and sat behind a bush waiting for them to get up from their beds. After about 15mins one smaller grey billy of the mob got up and started to feed past him. I saw his bright yellow feathers fly across the gap and heard the thud of the arrow hitting home.
Even hearing from him now that when he nails a nice fallow he might be going the recurve for good.

While Darryl was recovering his goat i noticed a couple billies dissapear over the dam bank so i raced over to the dam and snuck over the bank. They were on their way out by then and a small billy leading the way stopped at 5m front on. I smashed the wood shaft into his chest and he diddn't even make it all the way down the dam bank.

We walked out into the hills a bit after that and had a few more stalks and saw hundreds of stinkers but closing the gap out there is almost imposible in some cases. we both managed a nanny each on the way back to the car but the billies were few and far between.
The next day we were going to be hunting in a lot better country for goats and the chance of a deer. The day was pretty uneventful really though with not many quality goats seen. I managed to shoot 2 meat goats on the way out and darryl shot a young billy on the way in. We only saw one deer which was dissapointing but they seem to dissapear out of this place after the ruts over and come back again around feb. Darryl also managed a rabbit wth a blunt and called a fox into about 25m until it cut our wind. Arrrgh so close to nailing my first fox. It has me keen as hell to get out and have a propper go at whistling.

We were also hunting with my mate Daniel and this is his result of trying to cross a small running stream.

Although it was not the most successful couple of days we saw plenty of goats and rabbits and had a ball just being out there.
