Well got back from 2 days hunting/fishing up near bundy yesterday. 6000 acres of paper bark swamp, rainforest and dry slerophyll based either side of a major river system full of bass and barra. The target was pigs and there was ment to be a few getting around, bulldozing around a near by dam had scared a mob of around 40 of them. After arriving and having a talk with the land owner we put the canoe in and made our way up towards where they last had been seen, i picked up 2 fiesty bass on the way and about 4k's up we pulled over and set off on foot. As soon as we pulled over on the bank the traces of pigs were obvious, the dried mud on the bank had preserved old pig tracks from the last rain (about 4 weeks ago) we made our way through the bush to where they had been last sighted with constant tracks and small patches of digging all around us. We made it to where they had last been seen but the pigs had well and truely moved on. We found lots of old scatts, hoof prints raning from new piglets up to 50mm+ accross, an old wallow and a nest but no pigs, all of the signs looked at least 3weeks old and the majorityof the tracks where in the same direction travelling off towards the state forest.

We spent the rest of the afternoon flicking around lures and we scored a couple more bass when an ugly storm poked its head over the hill, ***** 5k paddle in the dark racing a thunder storm in a canoe designed for stability and taking a large pay load, needless to say we lost. we made it back to camp just as the storm was starting to calm down. We had a big sleep and the next moring we set out again to check out a few more likely spots again only discovering traces around 3weeks+ old.
Anyway after alot of paddling and walking for only a few bass we made our way back to brissy, in some ways dissappointed but in others excited that we had found a property with good numbers of pigs even if they weren't there at the time.
I'll be back for sure

Attached is a photo of the nest we found in amoungst thick bush and trails worn in purely with pig prints
