Some target practise was in need, so Pedro and I went out to look for some goats. We decided to give “The Tank of Death” a rest on the first day as the goaties were getting a bit towy and very cautious in this area. There are at least 7 dead in the vicinity of this tank, and for some reason the goats do not like it! So, this being the case, we hit a couple of other spots. The first tank that we visited had nothing but nannies and small billies, so we moved on……… To find some bigger billies elsewhere. The spot that we visited is an oasis for goats around here, with some green grass growing in dry tanks. However, so many goats are rounded up in this district that Big billies are hard to find. So I set if on a stalk of the biggest available. I was creeping in ever so slow, but there was a small billy was to my left of my target billy. This made life difficult and of course, he winded me. The bigger billy that I had my eye on ran when the little fella did, but stopped 40m from me. Once again, in a now or never shot, I set my pin on him. It amazed me to see, that in an act of great respect for the big billy, the little fella jumped in front of him as I released my arrow! Looks amazing on video! As it worked out I wasn’t too disappointed this act of kindness to his fellow; this guy had a lovely skin. However, he is now without it!!

The second day dawned: Pedro and I set off to different locations for a morning hunt. He went to “The Tank of Death” I skipped off to a previously unhunted one. The action started not long after I arrived, but only with very small billies and nannies. A few slightly larger billies came in, and I decided to settled for one of these. The little guy went to take a drink, copped an arrow from 35m, and wobbled 10m to die. His mate hung around for a while, wondering what he was up to, but I couldn’t pull off another good shot in time!

Meanwhile, Pedro was at “The Tank of Death” where the big billies frequent! When he pulled up to pick me up I smelt billy in the car. He scored a 100dp billy! He blooded his new PGA Widow, with lovely horns to prove it. A worthy billy to receive an arrow from it!
