View Full Version : CT hippo's
I have recently been using carbon Tec rhinos but I don’t like the new price so I was looking at the ct hippo hunters. Has anyone used these before are they as strong as the rhinos any help would be great.
Thomas.
Weak as piss in comparison to say a Whitetail or a Rhino.
Hippo's are a fat target shaft ;)

i loved GT but i found that you could shoot the spine out of them when you shot them 100's of times for practice.. you suddenly had arrows constantly shooting different to others in your quiver. i switched to whitetails and have not found the same problem.. Just near impossible to get hold of at the moment but thanks to Antony i have 2 dozen turning up a couple days before i leave for the cape .

Well I am no expert but my experience with carbon arrows was disapointing. I have tried goldtips and some Easton carbons and found them to be very brittle. Don't get me wrong they flew great and were accurate but I always had them snap off in pigs. Even when the arrow did not get hit against trees ect , the shaft broke due to muscle movement of the pigs running and enevitably I lost my broadheads.
I have found the same as Jason with the GTs regarding them wearing after a lot of practice shooting and not grouping so well and thats when they start getting weak and breaking.
I had a set of CT Whitetail pro's but stoopid me cut them to short and they were over spined for my bow.............
I do believe Jason bought the remaining eleven of them from me.
Once I depleat my current inventory of GTs I think I'll be going back to the CT whitetails or the Rhino's.
I will be getting the rhinos again because they sure can take a beating and not break so I will just have to put up with the price.
Thanks for the help guys.
