Went out to sea today to see what I could see and this what I saw. Was out with a mate from work on his beaut shark cat. Was sick for most of the day(a big part of the reason why I bowhunt) but still managed to catch a couple. It was good to get out for a break.

good on you ant.
dan.
Looks like you had a great day Ant, even though you look a bit green around the gills in the photos.:D
So did the Mako do any aerial displays for you?
Yeah you look nearly as green as the tune mate, but still top effort, I guessed you used your burley too catch the bait fish right?;)

Brings back memories for me Ant, used to fish alot in NZ - never been out in Australia.
I hate Makos - good to watch fight but aggressive little suckers - had plenty of run ins with them.
Yellow fin - Yuuummmmm
Very nice tuna, and good job with the Mako.
Which fought harder?

Thanks guys. Answers to the questions. The tuna was caught whilst cubing but none more were hooked which was a bit of a disappointment. The shark never jumped, but once gaffed it nearly ended up in the boat several times and one of the guys was close to getting bitten as it wrapped up the trace and the gaff rope. By this time I was on the video camera as the other two took over. I was very polite in killing myself laughing as quietly as i could as they each blamed each other for a poor gaff shot or not holding on tight enough. Those sharks are just plain psycho.
The fin was taken on 10kg and the shark on 24kg. Both took 30 minutes to pull in and I thought the fin went harder, but the shark had more power when it wanted to show it. As for eating, well I will never turn down mako ever again. One of the best eating fish I have had. Tuna is always good, but the shark is better. Cheers.
Great stuff mate. Hoping to head out wide off darwin soon myself
