Hi everyone, I am looking at getting back into archery after a 10 year break i used to shoot compound bows for around 8 years but this time around i am looking at going trad bows. I have been looking at a few secondhand bows around the $350 from the US but have come across this Samick Verna sold here in oz. I know its not handmade and all that but its just to get started again and build up some shooting fitness. Im 6ft 1 and have a draw of 29" right handed shooter and im looking at going 50# to start off with. Any help or info on what you think of this bow would be much appreciated.

Cheers

G'day Hamish, good to see you are getting back into archery. I don't know anything about the Samick longbow you are looking at but they do make very good value bows and I would doubt if you would go wrong buying any bow from the Samick stable. Good Luck...Glenn...

Thanks for the reply Glenn. I will order it on monday the way i see it i cant go wrong at that price and it will give more of an idea of what i want to buy for a custom bow when i get a bit of all feel for it.

Cheers

I had a quick look at a Samick Verna 60 # the other day , nice looking deflex reflex longbow [ hybrid ]for the money , it had a smooth draw but at 64 " and being a mass produced bow I wondered if the tiller wood be up to a longer draw than 28 " without stacking . Most likely because of the deflex reflex design my concerns are completly unfounded , I would definatly by one at $325.00 if I was in the market for a hybrid design bow . regards Perry

Cheers Perry for the feedback. Does not seem there are to many people around with this bow as i have had a bit of a look on the net for reviews and have only found one at abbey archery were someone one had brought one and only had it for 2 weeks but did wright up a fairly postive review on this bow. Do you think that samick would have some type of warranty with there bows or is that wishful thinking.

yer mate they will have a warranty which I think is 12 months if I remember correctley.Mate the Samick bows are a top buy for the money and I am sure you will have no probs.I had the Equis for a little while which was a very short little curve with a longbow handle and it did not stack out to my 28 inch draw and shot very smooth right where I was looking.
Cheers KIM

Just backing up what Kimall has said , Samick bows are excellant value for money and well designed and put together . The finish isnt great and the clear glass is streaky but at the prices they sell for who cares and a flashy finish dont make em shoot better . I have a Samick Viper that shoots very well with bugger all handshock , in fact better than a custom longbow I have . regards Perry

Im not that worried about the finish on this bow as you said Perry its more about how well it shoots and how long it lasts.

Good stuff Fredo. I brought mine from Abbey Archery how about yourself. Do many people buy there gear over the net or do you prefer to go to your local shop? Just looking for arrows now.

Buy all my gear over the net as I am 600k's from anywhere, most dealers are pretty good I have brought gear from eagle in Brisbane, abbey, & archery supplies.Eagle are amazing with shipping ring them at lunchtime & receive gear at lunchtime next day,I have been giving them all a go,mainly due to what manafacturers they deal with, brought Samick from archery supplies in Canberra, ordered Mind 20 first but draw too short rang them they said send it back & we will send out a 30 no problem, just waiting for them to receive stock, looking at Abbey to buy my Bear Instinct
