Went for a walk around some swamps today looking for some action but all seemed quiet:( there were quite a few vehicle tracks getting around which I was told about by the owner but I just needed to get get my fix of being out in the bush:D

The swamps seemed lifeless except for the abundant brumbies which the TO's didn't want me to touch as they had them already promised to a local pet meat supplier.

after seeing very little sign around the swamps in the way of boars or buff I decided to try my luck on a few of the millions of geese getting about on the edges of the swamps. After some lengthy stalks I manage to take two geese out of three shots using the same arrows I would normally use for any other game up here:)

then it was off home for the plucking session which is easy if you know how;)
first off you cut the wings off at the first join nearest the body

while you are doing that you should have already made a fire and have a large drum half filled with water coming to the boil!
once the water is boiling you can dunk the geese keeping them submerged with a dunking stick for at least 15-20 seconds.

once that has been done let them cool for a minute or two then start plucking. the feathers should come out fairly easily by simply rubbing them with your thumbs in the same direction trhat they go into the skin:confused:

once the feathers have all been removed it's a simple case of cutting a hole around the anus and removeing all the guts through that hole, simply wash the plucked and gutted goose with clean water and cook up a storm MMMMMM!
