Well have returned from two weeks in the Territory.
Myself, Wilko, Matto and the Unknown Archer had a top time hunting swamps and creeks and also fishing for Barra, Saratoga, Sooties etc. on private property South of Darwin. It was the second trip to this particular property and it didn't dissapoint with plenty of pigs sighted and taken. We sighted numerous Buff also.
With three of us using Black Widows and Matto using his compound we crept, snuck, stalked and sploshed our way close to many pigs and came away with some nice animals, photo's and video.
My first Boar of the trip. World's luckiest archer and the world's unluckiest Boar. Arrow dropped low on the first shot as he fed in the mud. He jumped up shook the mud from his ears, looked around, heard nothing else and went straight back to the dinner table he had come from.
I didn't miss twice.

Can't show you his face, but can show you his Boars. The Unknown Archer with two good ones from "The Swamp"

Good sized Buff

Young Boar taken off a high bank as it fed and swam its way along the creek in the background.

Matto and a Boar taken on the first day with his fandangled contraption.

Wilko with an absolute cracker taken on a solo mission into drier country. One tusk was broken but it was a massive bodied thing and the photo doesn't really do it justice.

Sow taken while on the move at close range.

Of the tusks we removed Matto's were the biggest (cheeky bugger) and went 28 points. We have given him notice, however, next year he'll have to take a bow with some wood in it.

Then there were the Barra. It was too good not to show a few pics.
These were all taken in small flowing channels off the main river we were camping on. On this particular afternoon we landed and released thirty between Matto, Wilko and myself.
Wilko's best all captured on video too.

Matto with a good one that a large freshwater croc thought looked like lunch for a second. Wilko and I thought Matto had been taken for sure from all the yelling and splashing we could hear. Still, a big stick, a bit more yelling and Matto had this one on the bank.

Fly caught Barra.

I had something of a shocker on several good boars ie: I missed, which basically comes down to me rushing shots, not picking a spot and a touch of Boar fever. When you compare it to the pig hunting down here in Southern NSW, where just finding an animal can sometimes be difficult, getting multiple stalks everyday was great. While it was dissapointing missing at the time I couldn't care less now because we are already thinking, talking and planning next years trip.
Love the Territory.
Cheers
