fallow hunt

well wile i was up at mansfield i went out to a fallow deer property i know of iv seen afew fellow around and have hunted the erea afew times.
when we got there my dad was wanting to see this ski boat that was hidden in the pines that i saw last hunt afew of you guys may have rememberd it.
any way we made our way towards the boat to find it was gone but on the way to the boat i saw something white sticking out of the grass 20m away i got closer and closer saying nah its not a cast antler then i saw the coronet
yes a castie
my dad has never found one and i have found 3 hehe his jelus i think i didnt take a photo out there but here it is

its fairly old but we thought the fellow were only fairly new to this erea and this antler is atleast 5 years old so they have been in there a wile we also thought there was no real big stags but no we know. dad went back to the car and i went on.
i found some fresh sign and afew beds alot of prints alot of really fresh rubs and a bit of crap.

i didnt see any deer but still had fun saw alot of roos and afew bunnys her is a cave i found
and some one i know told me in this spot there is rocky ledges and there is ment to be afew wild goats out there and they sleep in these holes as you can see there ia alot of poo on the ground and it was goat poo

Good to see you have found a spot with some deer on it.

How do you figure that antler to be off a 5 year old? It looks like an average 3rd year antler (maybe even second year, if there wasn't a drought)

good pictures jesse, i'd love to come for a walk in that area sometime. and have a look for those goats, there bound to be somewhere in the area.

are you sure that is deer poo, because i know ive seen something like that ive hunted but cant remember, is there anything else with poo like that?

gday jindy when i said 5 yerars old i ment thats how long it had bee on the ground
but yer it at the time that antler would maybe of been from a 3yr old

and danny it is falow poo some times it comes out like pellets and some times it comes out like that. it just depends how mutch green pick the animal is eating

Those are brilliant pictures. What kind of deer are they in the area?

not a bad spot there woodstocka. Looks like there are a few fallow about with the sign you posted. That antler is probably just last years cast as they fade really quickly out in the sun and weather. Have you gone out there for a hunt on first light or late arvo because they hide out during the rest of the day usually and that would be the best way to see them. Hope you find some goats out there to.

yer those pics were takin at about 7:00am but we have seen deer there late arvo and early mornin i like arvo hunt though it gives me time to get my stuff ready better ai can have afews hots befor i go also it gets colder qicker not hotter as you go
hopefully i will get one soon last fellow hunt i got within 30m from 3 spikiers went to draw and they trotted off
