View Full Version : Were can I get suitable cane / bamboo
Just sitting here wondering if anyone out there knows the availability of any cane or bamboo thats suitable for use for arrows in this country . Be buggered if I will import the shafts they are selling at 3 Rivers at over $10.00 US each ,a bit expensive I may as well shoot carbons then . If I have too I will buy a big pot and grow it . So far I have been buying bamboo tomato stakes in Macro warehouse and its quality is ordinary and so far its been impossible for me to get anything light enough in spine regardless of what length or how much mass I put up front . regards Perry
Perry I have bought arrow bamboo on the Coast here yeras ago. I use to grow it at my other house in town. It made very good shafts and was no problem getting 60# plus shafts from the stand. It grew real quick as well. If I let some of it go they made good atatal shafts as well. Should get a stand growing out at the club grounds...Glenn...
Thanks Glenn , the stuff Im getting at the moment would make excellant AtlAtl darts . I have been drilling holes up the point end inserting heavy dowell , footing them with beefwood and gluing on 160 grain heads and at 36 " long still to stiff to shoot from the 45# ish pound bows I like to use . Good idea about planting a stand down the club - perhaps it would eventually choke out the Lantana . regards Perry
