Need some help on carbon arrow selection. I have a Martin Savannah 55#@28" my draw length is 29". Never used carbon arrows before so thought i would give everything a bit of a go and see what works for me best. Any help or info on best brands places to buy ect would be great.

Cheers

Give the Easton PowerFlight carbon arrows a go. The 400 spine is what you should try.
Good value and not too expensive.

Hamish I have two curves both at 56lb 28'' spent sometime working it all out and have ended up with
Goldtip GT Traditionals 55/75's 50grn brass screw in's front and rear with 125grn field tips. This gives me around 7% Foc (forward of centre), four 4 inch sheild cutt's and they shoot fast and strait. If you want to use the same shafts for hunting then 125grn ribtecs with 100grn steel adapters screwed into the same shaft is what I use and they still seem to fly strait and plenty of punch up front.
Hope this helps, just hope the techo fellas dont jump on me now( he he ).

I shoot several recurves and Longbows ,, All in the 55/58# range .I use the same Goldtip Trads for them all and I haven't had a problem yet.

I agree GT Traditionals are a great durable shaft with a good weight for hunting. I have been using the GT Traditional "blems" in 55/75s out of a 55# longbow for a while now and they shoot very well with only slight cosmetic blemishes in the finish.

Check out our sponsors to see if they can supply any, but I found it very difficult to source any here in Australia.

I get mine from: http//www.sipseyriverarchery.com/ and even with the postage costs they are far cheaper than anywhere else and Sipsey River provide great service as well.

Paul got some gt's last week from Ar/ Mar in South australia you should know who I mean. They always stock them but sometimes have difficulties getting them themselves.
Dont want to upset the sponsors in any way.

I always like to support local if I can but I buy my GT trads from here
http://www.sipseyriverarchery.com/product_info.php?cPath=88&products_id=330
They come ready to go and by the time you add freight they are still cheaper than local plain shafts.

Well i ended up ordering some Beman MFX Classics .400 so should have them by the end of the week. Also grabbed one of those test point kits to help with tuning. Might have to try these 55/75 GT,s out also. Im going to foot the first inch of my carbons with alloy shaft to make them super tuff and stop them from mushrooming on the ends.

Beman MFX Classics got here yesterday. Bare shafted full length one got my nock height right and then played with the test points. Made up 3 arrows to start with being 30in shafts with 3x5"sheild cut feathers and just shy of 200gr up front (Howard Hill 2 blades) and a total weight of 536gr all within 2gr of each other. They fly very well. Just have to kill something with them now.
