i have relatives that live in yarrawonga (boarder nsw/vic) so i go up there alot. i am wanting to get onto a property that has bigger game (goats, pigs i am not fussed) somewhere around that area that insn't too far away. but what i am wanting to know the most is are there any goats up that way at all? and do i need any type of license or slip to hunt on private property or stateforests?
any information would be a big help.

Dan,
On the NSW side of the border you would need a R-Licence from Game Council NSW to hunt on any declared NSW State Forest. A licence is also required to hunt deer on private property in NSW. For further info, check out:
www.gamecouncil.nsw.gov.au
Once you have your licence, you can get a list of the forests and what has been seen & taken to give you an idea of what may be in the forests or which one you may wish to hunt.
Cant help you with the Vic side... best to check with a Victorian or (I think) DSE has info on hunting.
Hope this helps a bit,
Cheers & good hunting,
Paul

BTW,
to hunt anything other than deer on private property in NSW, you just need the landowners permission... no hunting licence req'd.
Cheers,

Dan, there is bugger all to hunt around Yarrawonga. You may find the odd Rabbit around and you will have a good chance of whistling a Fox or Cat along the river Red Gum flats if you can gain access.
Don't go up there with high hopes of breaking any records.......Sorry to burst your bubble;).

yer, as dale said theres not much good hunting land here. I'de say that over the years people have built close to the river for farming.
