Well I've had the Bowerang tgba recurve out over the last week with a few small critters falling to some well placed arrows. The first was a couple of rabbits taken with g5 small game heads. The next afternoon I called 4 foxes in but had no luck in closing the deal with the foxes being on the ball, old wise foxes. I also seen 3 young foxes fresh out of the den and surprisingly they are all ready hunting and standing about half a full grown dog foxes height. The next afternoon I found another 2 young foxes half the size of the 3 I had seen the day before. I just studied these foxes and will catch up with them in a month or so when they come into the whistle better.
Late afternoon I spotter a medium sized fox standing on top of a log and with very little coming to the whistle (had a lot ignore the call) I decided to stalk him. I closed the gap to 12meters and had to pull up due to dry leaf litter further on. He stood up from a laying position and I set a arrow tipped with a razor Blackstump through him length ways. He dropped into the end of the log and died just out of arms length. After a bit of cave man style rock axe cutting (breaking) I finally recovered him. After a closer look he seemed to be from this years mating, but bigger yet again then the first 3 cubs I had seen. They must have had a wacky breeding cycle this year.
Is anyone else seeing this years cubs getting about.
Sorry no pictures camera was out cold.
