Mate, maybe just me but at present I am not all that impressed with any of the local heads...(no disrespect intended there Woodie) I am however very impressed with the Slick Trick especially the 125gr magnums..whilst mine probably spits them out a fair bit quicker than yours, nevertheless, they fly like darts and out to about 35-40m I tear up the vanes.. I also recently got to smack a pig, admittedly a sow, with one and it zipped through her like a hot knife through butter and the resulting holes and claret loss was very impressive so I think they will be my preferred head for all hunting ;);)

Personal choice I reckon! But ever since I put the Outback Supremes on I haven't looked at anything else. Each to there own but these are my favourites. Spin true, fly true, and are deadly! Most broadheads are so long as they are put in the right place and are scary sharp.

BlackStumps, solids, vented both good solid heads. You will need to sharpen them yourself other then that good heads. I have shot plenty of solid boars this year and have never had a failure.

I totally agree with Scott.

I have tried just about every broad head on the market but the Outbacks are heads and shoulders above the rest.

I ordered 2 dozen off Woodie and when my mates over here seen them wanted some so now I have to order some more

I have used Tusker Spirits and Outback Supremes and have found the outbacks flew better for my last set up.

However I would love to see and australian broadhead made at 100 grains with insert. This would be better for the new generation of fast bows coming out now. I would love to see a Outback supreme or Outback Hunter in 100 grains, I think it would be killer.

Thanks for reading.

Blackstumps for me, tough as nails, never had a problem, and they have never let me down.

I will (one day soon) try the Outbacks. (Not sure which model though).
I like the look of them and they have had glowing reviews here. Can anyone comment on their consistency in weight? If you bought a dozen or two, would they all weight exactly the same or is there a variance - I am very interested to know. (sorry to semi-hijack your thread silent killer - but answers to this question might interest you as well).

Thanks
Aaron

Thanks for the coments fellas i have heard so much of a good rap up on suprems so now i have a dozen on order i have tryed hunters but the arrow dose sillys stuff when they are on the end even though my bow is tuned to the point where i can shoot a group at 20 meters and then shoot a unfletched arrow straight down the midle of that group....

I have a little selection that i have been using. i personally like the G5 Montec's and have just recently acquired some 125 gr Slick tricks which seem to be flying very well.

2 blade, Blackstumps by a mile :)

For the deer I like to use something with a little more initial 'bite' ;), a couple more blades and a bigger hole :)

The only Aussie heads I have at present are 190 grain Ribteks. We'll soon see how they go. I haven't had much experience with Aussie heads actually, my only success with one being a young bull buffalo taken with a Davies Delta.

I use 125gr Ribtecs. All I have used in the last 10 years (because I got a heap back then) on everything from foxes, goats, deer and pigs. Never had any problems with them, they hold an edge well and are tough. But like I said I haven't tried anything else in a while. Oh and I only shoot out to 30m. Love the stalk.

I have shot deer, pigs and goats with the g5 montecs and they have been a superb head, no complaints except for the price.
That is why I changed to the blackstumps, if I have a rabbit pop out in front of me I now have no hestiation in sending an arrow his way, whereas before with the g5s I used to think it was a lot of money for a head to be flinging it at a rabbit. JMO

Silent Killer, I have not shot the G5 heads but a number of American friends have commented to me that they are excellent heads, easy to sharpen, fly very true - but do carry a noticeable noise/sound when shot (which can be heard in-front and behind the path of the arrow). Not sure if that's a real worry though myself - (but then I haven't heard the noise myself) usually the arrow is through your target before the sound can be reacted to. Has anyone else noticed this?

Gday mate i havent yet noticed this noise but there was a bit of wind around then.

I love to try a lot of broadheads...

For a fast bow I dont like shooting two blades, For the fligth and for the wound. of three blade now I am shooting the MX-3, its awesome. I have never had a broadhead that can break bone so easy, they have and incredible fligth, and made a really nice hole. Its all I ask to a broadhead!

For close shot now I am using the Mx.4, here the country is thick and you need a good blood trail to recover game, and with a 4 blade hole yo get it.

i have got bad experiences with some expandables, one of them didtn open in the deer, I was lucky to get the heart, but I would have made the same wound with a field. Also the long broadheads like the woodsman I dont like them for my mathews, but i use them for my longbow.

More three with a great results.. Nap hellrazor, Snuffer SS, magnus, zwickey,Silverflame(too expensive for me)..

Now I am waiting to try the Rage, and the slicktricks. Hope to shoot something soon.

Im the same, outback supremes for me.

In regards to that last question, i have noticed the weight can vary in them more than i expected but it doesnt seem to make any difference out to 30m anyway whether i use the 125's or 140's they still go the same.

I have severeal different types of broad heads and I think it comes down to a personal choice. what works for you might not work for others. some people find one type easy to sharpen while others find it hard, go with what you like.

silent killer
23-11-07, 10:16 AM
i got my suprems in the post this morning they are the single bevle model they look good and i thought they sharpen easy as well the only thing i am bit etchy about is the wound chanel because up here the country is real thick and even if a goat ran 40 meters its thick anough to losse it do you guys get good blood trails with them.....
......Cheers alex.......

Go the multi blade heads. Bigger entry and exit wound channels, bigger blood trails, there for me.
