hey guys, i dont understand that in WA you cannot bowfish for carp, i mean they really want to get rid of them and we are willing to help in some way, and they dont want it, we were speaking to a ranger the other day and he thought it was a great idea, when we told him of the rules when it comes to bowfishing carp i think he nearly fell over, he could not believe that the government would not take our offer to help out with taking some, i know you can get them on private land but there is no were near we live that have carp in the streams.

in the news paper there were these guys that were shooting native long neck turtles with a bow and arrow, i think thats discusting, people like that are the reason that we miss out and it just anoyes me so much.

i wish i could take some carp!

you can legally bowfish in WA anywhere can spearfish so a heap of places.

basically NO carp in WA (a good thing), so why care so much about bowfishing for 'em?

the "professional" is wrong danny. your 'ranger' mate might know a few things but carp range in WA obviously not. unless you add lib?

give the fisheries dept an email and find out - carp in WA restricted to almost 'nothing' thank goodness. easy to do.

i have personally thrown a line in almost every inland water system in south west in last decade and best mate been long time president of sole trout/freshwater fishing club in wa (responsible for stockings) etc. i know what i'm talking about.

if carp were availabe go get 'em but realistically - not. better waiting for the cane toad invasion.

i've spoken to many rangers during my travels and have yet to bother sounding one out on the specific range of carp in wa. be an incredible ranger to have much of a clue methinks.

on a serious note i'd suggest sea mullet - there are places they would be a good option (mindarie reef hole at dawn witn some bread berley?).

I agree with Hawkeye Danny ive had a fair bit to do with rules and regs and ive never heard anyone or anything that stops you shooting carp.

Its probably more a fact that you ask any ranger if you'd like to go into a calm or water authority restricted area to help out on any matter and you will get a "no".

This is because rangers themselves cant give you permission it comes from management approval and its very hard to get.

I had a very rare permit to hunt pigs for 14 years over a large area of conservation areas. Unfortunately due to some idiots the few permits we did have got cancelled a couple of years ago.

they'll be a lot easier to find than non-existant carp (a few goldfish about, but not the big carp like over east (outside of a few areas can't bowfish for them anyway)). you live in northern suburbs spidey then get some polaroids and walk Mindarie Reef... plenty of sea mullet, hardyheads, a few yellowfin whiting and octopus. i wouldn't bother personally but if so keen to bowfish around Perth this about your only option. i think somewhere you said you live near Yanchep - if so you've got the lagoon on your doorstep!!
