Thought I would keep track of my afternoon hunts on here for anyone interest. Photos to follow.

Tuesday afternoon
Called a massive fox in withthe scotch preditor call. He came in flat chat and it wasn't till he was 1meter from running into me that I let rip taking him through the chest. He scattered his way 20 meters most of that time of balance but unfortunatly made it deep into a wombat burrow.

I also stalked a few hares but had no success.

Wensday afternoon, calle dmy first hare into range with the caller (thanks to hints from Jerry Redman, thanks dude).
Also called another too full grown foxes, but the wind was all wrong.

Good stuff dude, I went out and hunted a forest down near you on Tuesday arvo. Found a real sweet looking spot but didn't see a living creature other than roos and wallabies..

It still sweet to get out and it's one more forest that I'vre scouted that I wont be sitting in for a week or so in March.

Thats about 5 diferent forested scouted pretty well so far, only good ones left to go lol.

Good hunting Adam, I bet that's exciting having a fox run in to one metre away, I have never done anything like that with a call...Glenn...

We'll have to line a hunt up down here one day Glenn.

Thursday, scored another property today through one of the workers (Drew) consisting of 3000 acres in prime small game country. After work he pointed a few areas out on his property where theres rabbit warrens. Within a 1 hour walk I must have seen over 100 rabbits, I called 2 foxes and spotted a black feral cat. It was mainly a scout around and having found some blind spots to stalk upto the warrens I should bag a few over the next few months.

Friday afternoon, Back out to Drews place to try my hunting skills on the very flighty rabbits and hopefully get a few so I can put a game feed on for the work crew during next week. The first gullies warrens were choccers with rabbits and I took a young one out at 25meters with a g5 small game head. Shortly followed by 2 big plump bunnys around some blackberries. Another successful afternoon, another good dose of hunting to stir the blood.

Friday afternoon just gone I called 2 hares and 2 foxes with the preditor caller but no shots came about. I topped the afternoon hunt off with a bunny at 20 meters.

Sunday afternoon I found myself calling for a fox I had called earlier in the month. I'd spotted him hunting the paddock a month back and tryed calling him withthe tin whistle which brought him straight in but he got scent of me and since hasn't paid attention to the whistle. Well this afternoon I called him in with the hare caller and at 5 meters I took him double lungs and he trqavelled little distance folding up in view. He is a very large fox with a skull well worth measuring and a skin for the floor.

unreal mate, you must be an awesome shot with your recurves. i'll have to get myself one of those callers, the foxes around here run away when they hear the button whistle. is it possible to use the scotch caller and have a release aid on the string at the same time?

catcha later, dan.

Tuesday the 18th afternoon.
Called 1 large fox in today and chest shot him from 12 meters down hill but before I could go and search for the fox in the long grass a good sized hare came running in and at 15 meters I secured my second hare (FIRST WITH TRAD GEAR). Pretty excited about getting one as its an understatment to say I've been working hard to get one of late.

Unfortunatly it was dark by the time I recovered the hare and took some photos so Ill have to get back out there tomorrow afternoon and recover the fox.

I also seen 3 other foxes and called 3 other hares earlier in the afternoon.

Nice going Adam. Good to have the variety back in your hunting after all those bomber goats out west. Those Sambar are really going to provide some fine challenges chasing them. Great shooting mate.

Wensday 19th dec
Wasn't far off adding a few more Hares and Foxes to the tally on my late afternoon hunt today. Started hunting around 7pm and finished at 8.30pm calling a total of 6 hares and 5 good size foxes, but wind, shot clearance and a bad shot let me down. Game or no game though it was a great afternoon.

Thursday 20th Dec 2007
Got a leave early pass from work and was driving of the work site at 5.45pm and was hunting by 6.00pm. I was scouting out one of the local SF and a small patch of private land I have permission on that borders the SF. I was walking the edges of the road looking for any prints when I spotted these reds, hind, spiker and a stag. A few times I was at 30meters of then while they were milling about in the thick scrub and it was rewarding just watching them. They eventually walked out onto the side of the dirt track I was originally walking and smelt me. Well I know were to be this roar, if any of the local lads I hunt with are keen to go down in the new year an scout for wallows give me a buzz. I also managed to call a few hares in and take a plump rabbit.
