my new curve will turn up in a week or 2 and i want to be read to put it through its paces. it will be around 65lb and i have a 28inch draw. what shafts would you guys sugest. prefer a good alloy or carbon, timbers would be a bit too much of a chalenge for me to perfect.
will be using tusker delta heads to cut a big hole and to get plenty of weight up front. reading the trad stories and seeing the bows and game taken with them is getting me really keen to get it and get out there and blood it on a big old boar!

Cooke,
2219's may be worth a look but I would try a couple before buying.

recurve arrows like to bend as they're shot as I've found that the larger diameter arrows dont work all that well, I would suggest you look at 2018 XX75 for a tough no nonsense recurve arrow, Easton Legacy's look nice and shoot well. Personally I would not use carbons due to the probability of not getting a clean pass-thru with a recurve.

Cooke I shoot a curve 63# @ 28 and just started with some Carbon Express Heritage arrows and they are the best arrow I have ever shot from a trad bow including the footed woods I have made which where all spined and match weighted. You can load the front up heaps to get a high FOC and they are just as quiet as the woods to shoot.Total arrow weight with a 100grn brass insert and 125 woody supreme is 630grains.These came cut to 29 and if you are getting a new set start longer and bare shaft tune back to the right length.I dont understand the no pass through comment at all and shot straight through the pig I shot the other day and you can put a judo point on and stump shoot all day and not break or bend any arrows.I am kicking myself now for messing around trying to get other arrows to fly this good when I should have just got some of these.
Cheers KIM

I got a question about those FMJ, do they come as just shafts and you gotta add the nocks, fletches and the broad head adaptors? Looking on the gecko-archery online shop and they arn't much help with info. So do most arrows come already set up and you just got to add the broadheads?

when you buy the fmjs you get the shafts, inserts for the heads and nocks. You
have to fletch them with what ever fletches you are going to be using.
they are a fair bit heavier than people think they are.A member in my club has them and I asked him if could try them and I could not believe how much they dropped compared to my gold tip arrows

I have both goldtips and The CX heritage. The best thing about carbons is they are straight or broken not like woods or alli's.
I get mine from http://www.sipseyriverarchery.com/
they come ready to go for a price that is hard to beat.

I agree with Clinglish, it's hard to beat Sipsey River Traditional Archery for prices on the traditional look carbon shafts. I'm using GT traditional "blems" with all the weight up front and they fly extremely well.

Have not been able to bring myself to shoot carbons from my recurve or selfbows , love my wood arrows but several of my mates are shooting carbon arrows [ have not looked or asked what breed ] for field and hunting and they are getting excellant arrow flight and durability . Both are using extreme FOC of around 25% , and 4 " feathers . I wont budge but I am impressed with the results my mates are getting . regards Perry
