thanks for all your thoughts. I have been shooting with a release aid for the past week arrows fly well and groups are tight, so i have decided to go the whole hog excuse the pun, can you guys give me some advise on peeps and sights
cheers Ian
I think that the best peeps are the g5 meta peeps, and I have also been using the g5 optics LE sight for a while now and absloutely love it:)
You can get both of them through Antony at Gecko archery too

Are you setting your bow up for hunting or target?

Don't get sucked into a peep with a rubber thong, to line it up, if you value your eyes.
For hunting, you couldn't go past a Eastman 7/32" peep.
When you choose a sight , get one with a round sight housing. it helps line the sight up with the peep.
The best would be a 5 pin Hogg-it from Spot Hogg.
Sword also make a good one, that is a little cheaper.
I use a HHA slide sight with one pin, mainly because of poor eye sight.

I use a large peep, and I agree with Wareagle stay away from a peep that needs a rubber tube to aline it. I also use a single pin HHA sight but any sight of that style will work. When shooting I line the circle of the peep with the ring of the sight with a single pin in the center of the two circles, this helps give me a solid anchor by lining the two circles up. Because of the larger peep hole I can also shoot later as darkness falls. I set my sights up for around 15 meters and leave them fixed, I just raise the point of impact as the target gets further out, but I generally do not shot past 35 meters with most shots between 5 and 15 meters. Learn to stalk in close and you will nail them every time. Don't get me wrong you can take shots out much greater distances if your gear is set up and you can accurately judge those distances, but if you cant drop a broadhead in the kill zone 5 out 5 times then stalk in to your effective range, there will always be another boar, stag or goat, nothing worse IMO then seeing someone wing something at long range and watch it run off. Bad for the animal, hunter and bowhunting.
Also set up a rope D loop for your release, if its all setup properly it will help make sure the peep lines up every time you draw your bow.
There is a lot to learn and if you can get to a club or a good shop they should be able to help you with the finer details, there is only so much you tell someone on the net, you also need some hands on help and go out and learn. One point thou if someone tells you something and you think it does not sound correct don't be afraid to get other opinions.
Once all this is done, get out and nail something and post some photos:P
