well i think the most important thing to take (especially being in australia) is some sort of snake bite kit because even of you are with someone else or if you do have a phone, by the time the right treatment gets their it'll be too late.

Agreed!
But ive also got an extensive first aid kit in the car.
As Blakey said, long wide bandage that can be used for snake bites and a lot of other things, I also like a very small bottle of betadine, but the most important thing is knowledge. All the gear in the world wont help you if you don't know what to do with it, but if you invest the time in doing a basic course you can then use what you have learned to adapt what you have to the situation.
Good topic guys
I cary a small but comprehensive kit in my pack and in addition to a pressure bandage for bites you should think about a small heavy wound dressing in case of a broadhead incident, after all they are poking out of critters that could run right past you at a great pace after a close shot.
Some other things
Antesiptic/sterile wipes... Iodine
Bandaids ( cover everything from blisters to small cuts )
Water purification tabs
splinter probe/tweezers
It all fits in a small package in my day pack
