Hey Knife folk. I usually don't visit here much, but I just thought I might share a little experience I had with a Mayall knife the other night. As you probably know, Luke shot a doe when he was down my way hunting. When we got it back home to skin and gut, I started using his Mayall skinner and thought it a bit cumbersome and too thick to start the cuts around the back leg tendons. I put it down and continued with my usual little knife that I use for everything.

This doe however was the tightest skinned animal I have ever come across and there were no shortcuts in getting it off, as every bit had to be cut away. I eventually thought I would give the skinner a go and man was I glad I did. This thing simply glided through the sinew that attached the skin and I had it off in no time. I found that the weight of it really aided in slicing through it, where my knife simply plugged and chopped, if that makes sense.

I only wish that that knife could do it all, such as cut out the rear end, in the cavity and trim the leg tops, but I guess I found too that there are specialised knives for specialist tasks and this is certainly an excellent skinner, which is what it was made for. The knife itself is the one on the Mayall advertising on here if you were interested. Cheers.
