G'day,

More n00b questions! lol

Anyway, I'm curious to know what you guys do with the meat/carcasses. Do you shoot for meat, or the thrill/hunt/sport.

If you only shoot for the sport, what do you do with the carcass ? Do you bury it, or leave it for attracting other ferals to shoot ?

If you shoot for meat, what animals are you taking. And can you give some tips/links to help someone to start out in game meat preperation. Are you trimming them out in the bush,or bringing home the whole carcass? And if you bring them home, what do you do with the carcass after you've trimmed it.

Cheers

hey mate good question to ask and shouldnt be ashamed to ask it..

im also pretty knew to the sport and only shoot rabbits, for me its the thrill and hunt with the meat just a added bonus, none the less i take all that i can to give it more of a purpose... when i shoot a rabbit i gut it there quickly and then hang it in a tree somewhere to bleed out... when im leaving i will collect, once i get home skin it,gut it properly (remove head ect..) clean it and then shove in in the freezer, the skin is then salted for fly tying material...

hope this helps...

I always take rabbits, hares and goats for dog tucker if i get to shoot a deer it will be taken home, skun and hung in a cool room for 4 too 8 days before it gets butched. As far as foxes and pigs i take the heads or jaws for tropheys and leave the rest, it doesn't take very long to break down.
