View Full Version : Tie on nocks?
Just seeing who uses tie on string nocks instead of brass ones. Have read that it works alright with one above and below arrow nock and some say they get an increase in fps.
Cheers

I use them. I think they are alot more handy as you can tie them on yourself without tools and I feel they are a bit kinder to your string than crimping a brass one on. And I heard they give you a couple more FPS too. I just use some general purpose serving, nothing too thin.
I use tie on nocks, generally a different color to your string. I just do one and nock above, more friendly on the fingers too.

Thanks for the feed back im going to give it a try.
I too use some serving for a nock, it doesn't wear my tabs out.

can you use a D-loop for your nocks? I have two brass as well as a D-loop on my old string, but when I put on the new string I'd like to just use a d-loop if its sufficient.

I use two tie on nocks, one above and one below.
The lower one I have positioned with a bit of room under the arrow to prevent contact with my glove.
Dental floss is my choice as it bites into the serving better than serving thread.
Not a bad idea the dental floss.

Glen,
On a compound you can just use the D-loop and do away with the brass nocking points.
The original question was relating to Trad gear.

oops, I've been using the "new posts" button instead of browsing lately.
cheers for that Warlocke
Good Idea Ive only ever seen them on a couple of bowstrings before and didnt think much of it till now. I find that the brass ones seem to chew a bit out of my glove on the finger after a fair bit of use. Im going to give it a try

i use tie on aswell, just one and nock underneath,i found it awkward when crimpping the brass ones for tiny adustments i found they just slipped when you squeezed them up.with tie on nocks you can use the serving on your string like a thread and the tied on nock like a nut and get really small adustments by screwing it up or down and count the strands of serving you adust by .i did the same on my compound.
cheers

I use tie on nocks, generally use the fastflyte material that the string is made from and they last aslong as the serving. Another benifit of this type of nock point is they can be adjusted by turning as they follow the serving like the thread of a bolt.
