if i am wanting to make a short hunting film say 30 mins quick and easy i use studio 9 its probably the one your after, it is really easy i got the hang of it in a day , or if i want to make a good quality film i used vegas movie studio 'platnium' its more complicated, but better effects ect.

When learning stick to the simple and get a good grasp of the basic before you spend money on a better program, windows movie maker is as good as any to start with.

I use Adobe Premier Pro CS3.

Yeah i have tried windows movie maker and made a movie with it but the qaulity of the footage was lost and i had it set on high qaulity i'm not sure may be it was the way i done it or something but was very pixelated and unclear.

When saving with WMM The wizard comes up, when you get to the Movie settings page you can click on "show more choices" and click on "other settings" the drop down box gives you a lot more choices for saving your clip. Try a short clip and try different setting. From memory I think "High Quality video (large) is a good one but there a couple of others that may suit your needs better.

Hi everyone, I know this is an old thread but have a few questions for people out there with a bit more knowledge than me. I have been using Ulead movie factory 4, which is quite crap really, no transitions or titles, or anything. The problem I have is when I add music to a clip, when I burn it to DVD the clip shows up jerky and or slowed down. Is this a lack of RAM fault or just the poor software? I have 256MB RAM which is what the requirements were. Any help, greatly appreciated, Chris

Chris are you using UMF4 to burn your project directly to DVD or are you rendering your project to a file and then using other burning software to burn that file to DVD?

If you render to a file on your computer and the AVI file plays fine on your computer then the problem is with the burning process.

A quick thing you can try is to halve the burning speed of your DVD burner, I had to do that with some cheap disc's once. I would also recommend some good blank DVDs for movies like this, Verbatim make some good ones.

Thanks Rock, I have been burning straight from UMF4. I will try reducing the burn speed and see what happens. I will also be getting a new editing program soon , just for the better transitions ect. Thanks again
