I use loctite 406 and a dab of fletch-tite Platinum at each end. Clean shaft well before.

I used some thin double sided tape I bought from the local archery store made for fletching arrows and it worked better than any glue i tried, and faster too. I did all my arrows in a fraction of the time glue takes to dry for each fletch. Cheers Chris

Key to good fletching is preparation. make sure the shafts are clean of any residues, grease etc.

Some arrows I have found that a light dust up with a very very fine wet and dry gives great adhesion.

Fletch Tite Platinum is my preferred glue as it drys slightly less brittle than the super glues.

Yep have to agree with Antony on this, prepartion is the key. I use a prepsol (automotive spray painters prep) tp remove all grease & wax that may be on the shaft. I also use Platinum glue & apply a small drop to both ends of the vane when finished just to help any lift from the shaft when removing or when i get pass throughs on game. I also take my time to do the best job i can possibly do as well, try not to rush it.

Does the fletch tite platinum lose it's adhesive qualities in the tube? I have had a tubes dry up before i'm finished with them, but this tube i have now is around 8 months old and lately i've had up to all 3 blazers ripped off on passing through rabbits. All prep work has been consistant and i really don't believe that to be an issue. Anyone else had this problem?

I use the super glue that come in packets from the Reject/price busters shops, it works well.

I have found if you keep the tube in the refrigerator it lasts longer.
(Dont ask how I found out)...

warlocke has the idea locktite 401 is the best on carbon shafts only problems have had is sometimes on pass throughs the fletch tears my wraps off. Have never had a problem with bare shafts.

i used the locktite 401 and the fletchtite platinum stuff, in gonna get shot for this but i dont do any prep, i shave the shaft hit with a knife to get rid of the old glue then attach the new vane.
Im using quickspin vanes and have only even had 1 tear or after hitting a cyclone fence (bad broadhead), the goldtip snapped too.

I think you will find there a lot of people here who also take the old vanes of with a knife or utility knife of some sort. But as for not preping the shaft:eek: As you said you are using quickspin vanes which are for the most part real expensive for what they are i would be doing a little prep work. But it is your wallet i guess.;)

Use prepsol to remove all wax grease then apply glue. The key is to have a clean surface.

I use the AAE fletch tite (Arizona Archery), very thin and sets very quick. Not a fan of the Bohning Platinum stuff.

As already said loctite 401 but spray your gear/jig with wd40 as you wont get alot of things apart if they stick with that stuff.

A lot of people complain about Loctite 401 & 406 being liquid and messy, I found loctite make 454 which is the Gel version, you can squeeze a controlled bead on a flight and turn it over without it running or dripping. I made over 80 arrows in two nights before my last cape trip whilst watching TV. I put them in the jig leave for 10s and then put the next flight on.

I have used it for everything on my arrows from my nocks to BH's.

There is a knack to mounting a 2 blade head on an insert, for BH adapters that glue directly into the shaft I use a small copper hammer and seat the BH onto the adapter while the glue is wet, one quick tap is all it takes, then I glue the BH with adapter into the shaft.
